# Setup: Configure shipping methods

This guide explains how to set up and configure shipping methods in Norce Commerce, including pricing rules and method-specific settings.

## Required steps

- Set up applications first (shipping rules are application-specific)
- Create freight products for pricing


## Preparations

Before setting up shipping methods, ensure you have:

1. Configured applications
2. Created freight products for pricing
3. Determined shipping rules for B2B/B2C
4. Planned pricing tiers based on weight/order value


## How-to

### Create a new shipping method

1. Navigate to the shipping methods section **Shopping -> Delivery methods**
2. Click "New" to create a method
3. Configure basic settings:
  - Activate the shipping method
  - Set name, description, and code
  - Select currency for freight charges
  - Optionally set order value limitations (min/max)
  - Optionally set maximum order weight
  - Select target (All/B2B only/B2C only)
  - Allow for dropshipping orders
  - Allow dangerous goods products to use shipping method


### Configure shipping fee calculation

1. Select a saved shipping method
2. Locate the freight fee section
3. Add pricing tiers using "Add pricing":
  - Select freight product
  - Set price or use product price
  - Configure VAT
  - Set weight limitations


### Manage methods

- Arrange methods by priority (top = highest)
- Default method will be the highest priority available for each specific basket.
- Enable/disable methods for specific customers


### Further configuration

- Configure company-specific shipping methods
- Set up external provider integrations
- Enable PSP-specific shipping methods
- Disable delivery methods or set default method for different categories


## Important considerations

- The order of the methods affects default selection in checkout (first is default)
- External providers require specific integration setup
- Methods can be restricted by:
  - Order value
  - Weight
  - Customer target
  - Dangerous goods
