# Setup: Configure automation rules

Some product content can be automated in Norce.

## Required steps

- Set up a product content structure


## Preparations

Decide on a product model, specifically on how you want relations of products to work.
Contrary, popularity ranking is something that can easily be fiddled and refined later on. In a setup this can be simple enough.

## How-to

- In the [Relation types tab](https://norce-open-demo.admin-se.playground.norce.tech/product/settings/relationtypes), create the types you want to automate. It is recommended to use separate types for automation rules in Norce.
- In the [relation automation tab](https://norce-open-demo.admin-se.playground.norce.tech/product/automation/relation), create the different rules needed.
- Fiddle with the Popularity rules [here](https://norce-open-demo.admin-se.playground.norce.tech/product/settings/popularity).


### Further configuration

Decide on how popularity should be calculated in [client settings](/user-portal/settings/client-settings), by setting

- **Product popularity by variant**, Should each variant gets its own rank?
- **Product popularity by application**, Should popularity be different for different applications?
